Chemical Operation Technician (Orange, MA)

A manufacturer of specialty chemicals and advanced material for high technology sectors in Orange, MA is currently accepting applications for their chemical operations specialist position. They are hiring immediately, qualified candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. This is a full time, first shift opportunity with overtime.

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Chemical Operations Specialist is responsible for manufacturing a variety of chemical intermediates and finished products, following written and verbal instructions, product specifications, and good manufacturing principals. A Chemical Operations Specialist is a key member of our manufacturing team. He or she will be cross trained in all areas of the factory, ensuring maximum flexibility and productivity in daily operations.A successful candidate will have expertise in the discipline of chemical manufacturing operations, while also being a dynamic and creative contributor in developing new processes and solving problems.

CHEMICAL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST SCHEDULE:

The Chemical Operations Specialist schedule is full time Monday-Friday, 1st shift with overtime as needed for production.

CHEMICAL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Stage and verify raw materials consistent with safety and quality standards.
  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment consistent with written instructions and training.
  • Operate chemical manufacturing equipment (chemical transfers, reactions, purification, packaging, and analytical systems) to produce final products.
  • Perform defined product quality tests and verify products meet established standards.
  • Perform cleaning of process equipment and manufacturing areas
  • Safely and efficiently operate forklift for materials movement.
  • Participate in site Emergency Response activities
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Formal or informal education in hazardous chemical manufacturing operations and/or maintenance of chemical manufacturing equipment is a significant plus. A post high school degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field is a plus. A military background in operations is a plus.
  • Minimum Experience Required: Chemical manufacturing (2+ years) or equivalent demonstrated education/expertise in chemical reactions and conduct of operations.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Properly use and maintain PPE and follow PPE policies and rules. Note, must be able to fit test and use an air purifying respirator.
  • Must be able to access chemical manufacturing equipment, including frequent use of ladders and stairs.
  • Must be able to sustain extended periods of standing and sitting, as well as frequent kneeling, bending, and crouching.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and take necessary actions based on computer based machine interface.
  • Responsible for use of various hand tools and equipment to perform corrective/preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment and facilities.
